Kenya Christian fellowship in America (KCFA) was organized in
December 1991 through a vision initially conceived by Dr. Joe
Chege & Mary Karogi, who become the Founder and the first
president. At that time they lived in Birmingham, Alabama. After
sharing the vision with brethren , KCFA soon became a public
Christian organization run by an elected National Executive
Board and an appointed Board of Trustees for the purpose of
providing fellowship and ministering to needs of the Kenyan
community living in Diaspora.
The formal inauguration of KCFA took place during the first
annual conference held in the weekend of November 29 –
December 1, 1991 at Chula Vista Conference Center in Birmingham,
Alabama. It was during this conference that the name (KCFA)
was adopted, and the first set of officials was elected. The
first office bearers included: Dr. Joe Karogi, Rev. Morris Kabiru,
Dr. John Githiga, Mrs. Damaris Githumbi, Rev. Joash Wambua,
Dr. Stephen Kabachia, Mrs. Purity Kimani, and Dr. Robert Ndonga.
Since its inception, several gifted servants of God have served
as national KCFA presidents, including: Mr. Lucas Kimani (2005
-Current), Rev. Dr. Joseph G. Njoroge (1997 – 2005), Mr.
Patrick Muindi (1994- 1997), Rev. Dr. Stephen Githumbi (1993
-1994), and Rev. Joe Karogi (1991 – 1993).
The vision to launch this vital ministry truly emanated from
God who has overseen its growth from a humble beginning where
twenty two adults and ten children attended the first annual
conference in 1991 to between seven hundred and a thousand people
attending the annual conference annually. To God be glory and
honor.
